Join R.H. Boyd this Giving Tuesday and help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 for students and community organizations to help them attain their goals for higher education and bettering our communities.

This Giving Tuesday, join us in giving back with tax-deductible donations to our community and our future by partnering with the R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund to support nonprofit organizations, churches, and eligible students to attain their goals for programming, higher education, and better communities.

This year alone, we have given $22,500 in scholarships to benefit students at Spelman College, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Grambling State University, Vanderbilt University, and Chicago Theological Seminary studying in the fields of Business Administration, Management, English, and Religion. We also awarded $32,500 in grants to non-profits such as The Nashville Symphony, Fannie Battle Day Home, Rejoice School of Ballet, Creative Girls Rock, Concordia Learning Center, and East Mt. Zion Baptist Church, to name a few. These missional organizations work in the fields of health and wellness, childcare and development, education, religion, and the arts.

Through our R.H BOYD ENDOWMENT FUND we provide SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS to increase the number of minority undergraduate and graduate degree holders in certain fields of study, including business, theology, and English literature.
We took on a project with Fisk University to restore the HISTORICAL BOYD HOUSE. The home is being renovated to create academic spaces, such as classrooms and a lecture hall, and to build opportunities to further the educational pursuits of students in business and entrepreneurship.

The Mission of The R.H. Boyd Endowment Fund

The purpose of our scholarships and grants:
  • PROMOTE participation and increase the knowledge of the cultural heritage of African Americans.
  • ENCOURAGE innovation in advanced learning and professional development.
  • INCREASE the number of minority graduate degree holders in select fields of study.
Our goal is to:
  • PREPARE individuals to strive toward their professional goals and aspirations.
  • EMPOWER individuals to go forth and serve.
  • IMPROVE communities by providing financial resources to fund projects and programs.
Oversee special projects, such as the renovation of the Boyd House:

We invite you to join in a historic opportunity to partner with us in the renovation of the Boyd House on the campus of Fisk University. The home was originally owned by Dr. Henry Allen Boyd, second-generation leader of the National Baptist Publishing Board (NBPB), now the R.H. Boyd Publishing Corporation, and his wife Georgia Bradford Boyd, a suffragist and a prominent community voice for the advancement of women’s and children’s issues.

We recently launched a $1.4 million nationwide campaign to restore this early-twentieth- century Edwardian-style home, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The home is being renovated to create academic spaces, such as classrooms and a lecture hall, and to build opportunities to further the educational pursuits of students in business and entrepreneurship.

Our Impact

The R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund is proud to take part in supporting the educational pursuits of young adults and aiding churches and organizations throughout the community.
The following are a few letters of appreciation sent to us in gratitude for our support.

Devyn S. Harrod

The R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund has blessed me with that perfect gift from God. They have been unwavering in their support of my academic career. None of my accomplishments would have been possible without their help. I thank God everyday for their support and steadfast faith in me.

Jalani Patterson

Because of this scholarship, I am able to focus on my studies without the stress of loans. Thanks for your investment in students like myself. I plan to pay it forward by helping another student achieve their goals as you’ve helped me. Continuing my studies wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from scholarship sponsors like yours.

Briana N. Bloodworth

I wish to thank you for awarding a scholarship to assist me in obtaining my educational goals. Through this financial support, I have achieved much academic success while matriculating at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Aliyah Collins

Through the investment of the Boyd Family and Fisk University, I will be attending Harvard Divinity School for the Master of Divinity program in the fall of 2020. I understand that my endeavors would not be attainable without the help of the Boyd Family who is dedicated to Christian ministry and academic success.

Rejoice School of Ballet

The grant received front Boyd Endowment Fund helped tremendously in producing one of our ballets. It has been a life changing ballet for many and we thought the recent events in our country around racism deemed it essential in which the Boyd Grant has made this possible.

Salama

Without the help of the R. H. Family Endowment Fund, Salama Urban Ministries wouldn’t have been able to provide quality programming to approximately 100 kids each year. Your financial support has allowed us to provide materials, instruments, and supplies needed to help our students at the most vulnerable times in their academic lives.

The HELP Center

The HELP Center thanks you for your contribution to our center. With the funds received from the R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund it allowed the center to serve over 100 female and male individuals 18 years and older with complicated backgrounds and serve monthly food boxes to seniors with limited income.

The Hope Clinic for Women

The Hope Clinic for Women is so grateful for the support of the R. H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund allowing minority women to receive medical care, counseling, case management, and mentorship. The funds helped reduce disparity of healthcare that minority women receive. With the funding the women were provided support and care they need so they can have a vibrant, healthy, equipped and abundant life.

Save The Boyd House

This early twentieth-century Edwardian style home has stood as a symbol of one of the most powerful narratives in this city’s history: the ongoing struggle of African Americans to make the transition from enslaved persons to full-fledged citizens in Nashville. The lives and careers of the house’s two occupants, Dr. Henry Allen and Georgia Bradford Boyd, impacted countless African Americans in this city and nation, as well as groups around the world.

The house, built in the 1930s, was designed by McKissack & McKissack, the first Black-owned architectural firm in the country. It was acquired by Fisk University on October 11, 1938. Located on Meharry Boulevard, the home sits on the university's property in North Nashville and is under Fisk’s management. It is currently listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Over the years, the Boyd House has suffered significant damage. The home is in dire need of repair and is facing the threat of demolition. R.H. Boyd Publishing Corp. and Fisk University have launched a nationwide campaign to raise $1.1 million to restore the Boyd House for its historic value, while simultaneously creating academic spaces, such as classrooms and a lecture hall, and opportunities to further the educational pursuits of students in the areas of business and entrepreneurship. We must act now before the Boyd House is demolished!

The Boyd House is owned by Fisk University. The Boyd Family and the R.H. Boyd Publishing Corporation will not benefit from the proceeds of this campaign. Additional funds raised (exceeding the cost of renovations) will be allocated to facility maintenance and Boyd Endowment Fund initiatives (i.e. HBCU scholarships and community programming).

Let’s save this vital piece of Black history together.

The Statistical Data Behind Our Mission
